probably the best thing i ever learned in HS art class was that red is the first color the human eye sees. Artists and professional photographers use this fact to draw your eye through a picture. It works with all hues and shades of red as well.
Because of this little tidbit, nearly every time i see a painting or a photograph, i try and pick out the intentional or unintentional effect of bits of red.
The movie The Bourne Identity uses this effect throughout almost the whole movie, if you notice. In almost every scene there’s a bit of astoundingly bright red somewhere. It gives the whole picture a richer, more in-depth look.
